TightVNC is a free remote control software package derived from the popular VNC software. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like you would do it sitting in the front of that computer.

TightVNC can be used to perform remote control and administration tasks in Windows, Unix and mixed network environments. It can be very helpful in distance learning and remote customer support.

PuTTY 0.61 Beta

PuTTY is a client program for the SSH, Telnet and Rlogin network protocols.

These protocols are all used to run a remote session on a computer, over a network. PuTTY implements the client end of that session: the end at which the session is displayed, rather than the end at which it runs.

In really simple terms: you run PuTTY on a Windows machine, and tell it to connect to (for example) a Unix machine. PuTTY opens a window. Then, anything you type into that window is sent straight to the Unix machine, and everything the Unix machine sends back is displayed in the window. So you can work on the Unix machine as if you were sitting at its console, while actually sitting somewhere else.

This download includes the following tools:

    PuTTY (the Telnet and SSH client itself)
    PSCP (an SCP client, i.e. command-line secure file copy)
    PSFTP (an SFTP client, i.e. general file transfer sessions much like FTP)
    PuTTYtel (a Telnet-only client)
    Plink (a command-line interface to the PuTTY back ends)
    Pageant (an SSH authentication agent for PuTTY, PSCP and Plink)
    PuTTYgen (an RSA and DSA key generation utility).

Putty adalah sebuah program klien untuk SSH, Telnet dan rlogin protokol jaringan.

Protokol ini semua digunakan untuk menjalankan sesi remote pada komputer, melalui jaringan. Putty mengimplementasikan akhir sesi klien bahwa: akhir sesi di mana ditampilkan, bukan akhir di mana ia berjalan.

Dalam hal benar-benar sederhana: Anda menjalankan Putty pada mesin Windows, dan kirim ke terhubung ke (misalnya) mesin Unix. Putty membuka jendela. Lalu, apa pun yang Anda ketik ke dalam jendela yang dikirim langsung ke mesin Unix, dan segala sesuatu yang mesin Unix mengirimkan kembali ditampilkan di jendela. Sehingga Anda dapat bekerja pada mesin Unix sebagai jika Anda sedang duduk di konsol, sementara sebenarnya duduk di tempat lain.
